Every recommendation on TopShoppy follows the same process. This page explains exactly how we choose, evaluate and score products — so you know what a TopShoppy score means before you trust it.
How we pick what to review
We start from real shopping problems — the questions people actually type into search engines — and shortlist products with sustained sales history, not launch-week hype. A product makes the shortlist only if it is sold new with full warranty on Amazon US, has a substantial base of verified-purchase reviews, and competes on value in its price class. We deliberately skip refurbished listings, unknown brands with suspicious review patterns, and products whose appeal is mostly viral.
How we evaluate
For each shortlist we cross-reference three sources: professional editorial testing (outlets like Wirecutter, RTINGS, CNN Underscored and category specialists), aggregated verified-buyer feedback — with extra weight on long-term reviews that report how a product holds up after months of use — and manufacturer specifications, which we verify against independent measurements where available. Where sources disagree, we say so in the article.
What the TopShoppy score means
Our 1-10 score reflects value in the price class, not absolute performance: a $90 robot vacuum scoring 8.2 is excellent for $90 — not better than a $600 flagship. We weigh real-world reliability, how well the product does the one job it was bought for, and honest cons that marketing pages leave out. Every review lists cons prominently; if we cannot find a real con, we keep digging until we do.
